Fabricating For An Combined Analog And Digital Work Space

Working with elBulliLab, we fabricated a unique interior configuration for their creative laboratory. Our primary inspiration came from elBulli’s founder himself, drawing from the research of legendary Spanish chef Ferran Adrià’s on the nature of creativity. What elements contribute to an efficient, evolving creative environment? From our own research, we extracted three principal factors:

  • Adaptability
  • Connection
  • Collaboration

The interior we fabricated for elBulliLab focused on each of these tenants of sustainable group creativity. Architectural adaptability encourages the development of novel ideas by responding to the user’s  changing needs. Our convertible furniture and flexible layouts foreground the user’s mental processes, providing physical support for their innovation.  In partnership Telefónica and Microsoft, we also outfitted the space with an advanced data sharing system, encouraging flow of information between users and thus increasing collaboration, the backbone of creative evolution.

Over 60 sheets of black laminated plywood were CNC milled into stylish chairs, tables and other furniture.

Made in Brooklyn

The renderings and architectural plans as well as fabrication of all furniture were made by VVOXSTUDIO in our facilities in Brooklyn, NYC and then shipped to Barcelona.
