Fabricating A Trifold Pavilion
VVOXSTUDIO designed and built the Absolut pavilion for the Catalpa NYC 2012 festival. The trifold form of the pavilion was used to correspond with the three stages present at the festival – reggae, dance tent and main stage. Colored canvas fabric was also used to represent three different music genres.
Inspired by Connections
The Absolut pavilion, designed and built for the inaugural Catalpa NYC 2012 festival utilized conical extrusions, rooted in traditional circus form associated with festivity and merrymaking. Canvas coloring stretched fabric was also used to represent three different music types played on each stage. The conjoined pavilion modules were used to physically bring all three types of music played at the festival together, creating a space for the fans to socialize, rest and connect.
